What does trauma treatment actually look like? This webinar reviews an evidence-based framework for guiding treatment, and expands upon it with a new domain focused on physiology. Participants learn what current research says about the use of medications for child trauma victims. This framework is then applied to two very different, complex trauma cases to determine the focus and types of interventions to use, how to prepare different children and their families for trauma processing, and how to implement both play-based and verbal trauma narratives.
Join Dr. Robert Lusk as he uses case studies to illustrate the journey of trauma treatment and the reconnection that takes place as the journey reaches its conclusion.

ROBERT LUSK, PhD, a clinical psychologist for over 20 years, has devoted the majority of his career to helping traumatized children and adolescents. He has worked extensively with child trauma victims and their families, and provides training and consultation to parents and professionals about trauma-related issues, parenting special needs children, attachment disorders, psychotropic medications, and psychiatric disorders. For the past 22 years, Dr. Lusk has served as the Clinical Director at The Baby Fold—a multi-service agency providing residential, special education, child welfare, adoption/foster care support, and numerous other services to children and families in Illinois. There, he provides clinical supervision and consultation to all of the agency's treatment programs. Dr. Lusk also instructs courses at Illinois Wesleyan University and has been actively involved in investigative research on trauma since 1987, including studies of treatment approach efficacy and cognitive and school-related effects of trauma. He has published several journal articles and book chapters on understanding and treating traumatized children, and has taught both graduate and undergraduate seminars on trauma.
Dr. Lusk has presented at local, regional, and national conferences on the effects and treatment of childhood trauma. He also conducts a local radio show, Ask Dr. Rob, where he discusses and takes calls about a variety of psychological issues. He earned his master's and doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology from the University of California at Los Angeles and has trained in a variety of interventions including cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy, couples and family therapy, and EMDR. He has been a member of the APA for more than 20 years, and is a member of the APA's Division of Clinical Psychology as well as the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.

Organization, prioritizing, time and task management, self-regulation, and working memory are some of the components of executive function (EF) that have been the subject of much research and discussion. However, they are often vaguely defined and misunderstood. This leads to confusion, especially in how they relate to everyday activities such as school and work performance and social interactions. Imprecise understanding of EF leads to failed treatment strategies.
The purpose of this webinar is to examine the most current research- based influential models of EF. The primary focus will be on explaining what EF difficulties look like in those with Attention Deficit/ Hyperactivity Disorder (AD/HD). By exploring the relationship between EF and AD/HD, participants will be able to devise more effective treatment strategies for their clients.

KEVIN T. BLAKE, PhD, PLC, is a recognized national authority with over 20 years of experience working with Autism Spectrum Disorder, specific learning disorder, and AD/HD in adolescents and adults. His interest in these topics was spurred by his own struggles to overcome his specific learning disorder – Dyslexia with impairment in phonological processing, spelling, fluency, and comprehension, as well as severe unspecified sensorineural hearing loss. These diagnoses occurred during the first year of his doctoral program, when not much was known about adults with specific learning disorder.
As Dr. Blake struggled to understand his own specific learning disorder, he decided to make his life’s work the diagnosis and treatment of adults with ASD, specific learning disorder, and AD/HD. When he started his professional life, Dr. Blake was one of only a handful of professionals in the country with such a focus. Now he travels the country sharing his personal story and what he has learned about ASD, specific learning disorder, AD/HD, and other neurobiological disorders with professionals who work with these populations, individuals with these disorders, and their loved ones.
Dr. Blake has been a member of several state and national organizations, a facilitator for a Tucson support group for adults with AD/HD for several years, and a published author, with articles appearing in Attention!, LDA Newsbriefs, and Perspectives (of the International Dyslexia Association). He was a member of the LEAD 2000 Congress that advised the United States Congress regarding issues faced by citizens with specific learning disorder in the 21st century.

Athletics present a wonderful opportunity for children to realize their physical potential and learn valuable life lessons. It also opens the athlete up to the possibility of injury. Injury rates are increasing as children enter into and streamline athletic competition at earlier ages. We treat these injuries in our clinics, and with the changing healthcare environment, we have fewer visits in which to do so. If the healthcare provider hopes to produce positive outcomes for our patient athletes, greater emphasis needs to be placed on injury prevention.
This webinar investigates the current literature in regards to two main types of overuse injuries: stress fractures and tendinopathies. Participants will learn the definitions, etiologies, treatment, and most importantly the prevention of them through modifiable factors.
