This course provides an understanding of the role of users in system validation and covers good documentation practice and the writing of UAT scripts. It then moves on to running UAT scripts and the need for accurate reporting their results plus the implications when a stage in a UAT script fails and program changes are necessary.
ICH GCP and 21 CFR Part 11 both expect that all computerized systems in clinical research should be validated, and the implementation of such computerized systems is growing exponentially. The process of establishing a computerized system is dependent upon one pivotal role – the User. The role of the User especially with regard to the User Acceptance Testing (UAT) is essential, but if users are not trained in all the areas that they need to be aware of when performing UAT the final system when implemented may not be as effective as it could have been.

Culture is a complex and often illusive topic. On a daily basis, behavioral health professionals encounter various cultural issues and have the opportunity to learn about the cultural norms of those with whom they work, either as clients, co-workers or colleagues. Cultural competence does not mean we know everything about culture. Rather it is about learning, exploring, and being respectful of differences.
Through this webinar, participants will have the opportunity to examine the impact of culture and subcultures on therapeutic sessions. As many as five million people in the United States are believed to be suffering from Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), yet it remains an under-recognized psychiatric illness. BDD is understood to be similar to Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and has been reclassified in the DSM-5 in a new category, Obsessive-Compulsive and Related Disorders. Characterized by tormenting, obsessive thoughts concerning physical appearance, those who suffer from BDD believe that aspects of their physical appearance are deformed in some way – yet these perceived flaws are barely, if at all, noticeable to others.
The primary focus of this webinar is to understand the diagnostic criteria of BDD and its most effective treatment strategies, including medications and cognitive-behavioral therapy.

- This webinar will assist employers with effective strategies to identify, investigate, and terminate FMLA abusers. Employers will also learn when it is appropriate to deny FMLA requests.
Confusing regulations, along with numerous changes to the FMLA law, as well as, conflicting court decisions, cause FMLA to be one of the biggest compliance headaches for employers. A major FMLA frustration for employers is knowing what to do when an employee appears to be abusing FMLA and fraudulently using approved leave for non-FMLA purposes. Many employers feel helpless.
It is crucial that employers identify and terminate FMLA abusers; however, employers must proceed with caution when dealing with FMLA abuse; as the cost of violating the law can be massive. For instance, a fired Chase Manhattan Regional Manager won a federal jury verdict of more than $2.2 million in an employment discrimination suit alleging violation of the Family and Medical Leave Act.
Additionally, employees that abuse FMLA create a negative impact on company productivity, cause problems with customer service and employee morale; as well as increased costs via administration, overtime, covering shifts, etc. Some employers report experiencing as much as a 30% absenteeism rate, on any given day, due to FMLA abuse.

ROBERT LUSK, PhD, a clinical psychologist for over 20 years, has devoted the majority of his career to helping traumatized children and adolescents. He has worked extensively with child trauma victims and their families, and provides training and consultation to parents and professionals about trauma-related issues, parenting special needs children, attachment disorders, psychotropic medications, and psychiatric disorders. For the past 22 years, Dr. Lusk has served as the Clinical Director at The Baby Fold—a multi-service agency providing residential, special education, child welfare, adoption/foster care support, and numerous other services to children and families in Illinois. There, he provides clinical supervision and consultation to all of the agency's treatment programs. Dr. Lusk also instructs courses at Illinois Wesleyan University and has been actively involved in investigative research on trauma since 1987, including studies of treatment approach efficacy, and cognitive and school-related effects of trauma. He has published several journal articles and book chapters on understanding and treating traumatized children, and has taught both graduate and undergraduate seminars on trauma.
Dr. Lusk has presented at local, regional, and national conferences on the effects and treatment of childhood trauma. He also conducts a local radio show, Ask Dr. Rob, where he discusses and takes calls about a variety of psychological issues. He earned his Master's and Doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology from the University of California at Los Angeles and has trained in a variety of interventions including cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy, couples and family therapy, and EMDR. He has been a member of the APA for more than 20 years, and is a member of the APA's Division of Clinical Psychology as well as the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.
