Description: | Join SIT Graduate Institute scholar-practitioners Tatsushi Arai, Bruce Dayton, and John Ungerleider to explore the role of experiential learning in peacebuilding. The discussion will include theory and practical examples from SIT’s peacebuilding and conflict transformation programs. In those programs, young participants who may have been raised as enemies learn collective problem-solving and decision-making and collaborate on outdoor challenges; others hold a mock negotiation between Israelis and Palestinians or a UN Security Council simulation about Syria. These and other examples of experiential learning develop commitment and capacity to collaborate across cultures for peace and justice. The webinar concludes with a question and answer session. Presenters: Bruce Dayton, PhD, Executive Director, Conflict Transformation Across Cultures (CONTACT), School for International Training (SIT) Graduate Institute John Ungerleider, EdD, Director, World Learning Youth Peacebuilding and Leadership Programs Tatsushi Arai, PhD, Professor of Peacebuilding and Conflict Transformation, SIT Graduate Institute More information about SIT Graduate Institute, including presenter bios, can be found at our website, http://www.graduate.sit.edu. |
