Full Description: Therapists often struggle with how to address issues of sexual intimacy within therapy sessions, even though sexual issues are strongly correlated to a couple’s quality of life (Farbod, 2014). Because of stigma, fear, or shame, clients are also hesitant to engage in disclosure about this area of their lives (Taylor & Luce, 2003). This webinar acquaints clinicians with the assessment and treatment options available for various issues that impact sexual intimacy. Dr. Louis will share validated interventions for improving sexual frequency and satisfaction, addressing the effects of sexual abuse, enhancing chemistry, and dealing with the use of pornography. The webinar concludes with important information about discerning when it is necessary to make medical referrals, and to whom. Her therapeutic approach has been influenced through worldwide training in Brazil, Mexico, London, and Haiti. Dr. Louis has conducted numerous seminars and presented on the topic of multicultural strategies for working effectively with couples at the 2013 American Psychological Association Convention.
