Full Description:
Mental health professionals will be expected to accurately diagnose according to DSM-5 criteria by October 2014. Therefore, time is of the essence to get the appropriate training needed to ensure proper reimbursement by insurance companies and improved continuity of care with other professionals. Even those with non-diagnostic duties must continuously enhance their knowledge in order to review patient information and formulate treatment plans.

This webinar highlights the critical diagnostic updates to the psychotic disorders in the DSM-5. This includes criterion that have been changed, removal of subtypes, addition of specifiers, and new terminology used in schizophrenia spectrum and other psychotic disorders. Participants have the opportunity to review a case study and make a determination about proper diagnosis.

Your Presenter:
DION SHORT METZGER, MD, is a board certified adult psychiatrist practicing in Atlanta, Georgia. She completed her undergraduate degree at Emory University, medical degree at Morehouse School of Medicine, and general psychiatry residency at Emory University School of Medicine. She also completed medical research at Stanford University School of Medicine and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Dr. Metzger currently works with an Assertive Community Treatment team that serves patients primarily diagnosed with severe psychotic disorders. She is also a clinical assistant professor of the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at the Medical College of Georgia.
