| Description: | This training on OSHA workplace electrical safety requirements will provide an overview of the application and requirements of 29 CFR 1910 Subpart S. It will discuss the electrical safety topics that have been interpreted and reviewed in OSHA letters of interpretation. Why Should You Attend: OSHA Electrical Safety (29 CFR 1910 Subpart S) requirements are gaining increased visibility in today’s workplace. The course module will examine the basics of implementing Federal OSHA electrical safe work requirements. It will review the applicability of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) consensus standard Electrical Safety in the Workplace, NFPA 70E and survey priority topics of implementation. It will also discuss OSHA formal letters of interpretation and will provide an overview of the content of NFPA70E (2012) specifically examining the concept of approach boundaries and their relationship to hazard assessment and requirements for personal protective equipment (PPE). Learning objectives: At the conclusion of the module, students should be able to: - Define electrically energized work and an electrical exposure. - Understand in general terms Subpart S and NFPA70E (2012). - Gain familiarity with key implementation topics such as electrical testing and work, permit requirements, safe approach boundaries, arc flash calculations and required personal protective equipment.
