Hematology is a branch of medicine concerned with the nature, function, and diseases of the blood.Blood disorders include disorders of Red blood cells, White blood cells, Platelets, and bleeding disorders. It also includes the diagnosis and treatment of all the various Blood Cancers. Not all blood cancers are the same! There are different types, and affect different age groups; they may have different symptoms; treatment modalities are different depending on the type of cancer. Most importantly the prognosis is not the same in all types!Hearing the word Cancer leads to a feeling of Doom, Despair and Fear.However it is important to remember that today we have various treatment modalities for cancers and many of the cancers can be cured or well controlled, with the correct treatment.
