Description: | Overview : Many people believe communication depends on the words being spoken. A broader definition of communication must be considered when dealing with difficult individuals. Voice tone, posture, inflection, hand gestures, and eye movements can all be utilized to convey a message of acceptance, and friendliness if you are aware of the impact of these non-verbal components of communication. The ability to pick up on the non-verbal signals of the difficult person means you can discover what you need to do to ensure their cooperation. Improved perception is one of the outcomes from this one hour presentation. You will notice signs that you can use to create a feeling of rapport in many cases where others, less skillful could not. Why should you attend: In any group of people, there will be some who are difficult. Some more. Some less. Sometimes for only an hour or so. Sometimes, all day. And sometimes forever, or so it seems. How do you work successfully with these difficult human beings? Dr. Laborde's 30 years teaching rapport and communication skills to employees of major corporations around the world has taught her certain approaches that work most of the time, and alternative approaches when the first tries do not work. To create a stimulating, productive work environment, you should have all these approaches available to try, one at a time. We are all different. What works with one person to ally their anxiety, or sooth their nervousness, or verbally support their ideas will not work on the next difficult person. Therefore you need to be familiar with more than one approach. This is not a subject that is often addressed. Knowing these skills will improve your working day.
